International Women’s Day 2021

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day (8 March 2021), “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world. IWD is celebrated in China and Asia as much as in other parts of the world, and for us at Techworks Asia, we celebrate IWC 2021 by recognising that there are many examples of Asia women leading the way in tech industries.

We will be continuing our series on ‘Asian Women in Tech’ with further pieces in the near future on Lora Ho of TSMC and Grace Wang of Luxshare Precision. For now, we acknowledge the achievements made by women in global society, and consider some of the challenges ahead.

In all walks of life and all areas of society, when women lead, we see positive results. As highlighted by the United Nations Women (UN Women) organization, women’s full and effective participation and leadership in of all areas of life drives progress for everyone. Yet, women are still underrepresented in public life and decision-making, as revealed in the UN Secretary-General’s recent report.

As our series reveals, when women are given equal opportunities, we can achieve anything.
